For thirteen years, the International Economic Summit “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit” has brought together representatives of international organizations, public authorities, financial institutions, embassies, parliamentarians, leading investors and businessmen, top managers of Russian and foreign companies. The summit has proven to be a successful business platform for establishing new contacts, as well as an aid for presenting the economic opportunities and investment potential of our country. The event is held within the framework of the activities of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, chaired by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
On the agenda of the business program of the XIII International Economic Summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022” will be the sharing economy and the common good of Halal, and the key topics of the upcoming summit are Islamic finance and partner banking, the Halal industry, youth diplomacy, export development, entrepreneurship and investment. The event will also include the Russia Halal Expo 2022 exhibition, World Halal Day and events dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.

In 2021, the Summit brought together 5,000 representatives of international organizations, government authorities, financial institutions, top managers of Russian and foreign companies from 64 countries of the world and 41 regions of Russia, as well as 24 ambassadors and 5 consuls of foreign states on one platform. In addition, the leadership of more than 10 ministries of foreign states participated in the Summit.
Among the traditional events of the summit are the Forum of Young Entrepreneurs of the OIC Countries, the Forum of Young Diplomats of the OIC Countries, SberTalk – a multimodal offline discussion platform with representatives of government and business, where real problems of the financial sector are discussed. From 2021, at the Summit site, the BEAC has been expanding the environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) agenda.
The event site will also traditionally host the Russia Halal Expo exhibition and the Machine Building Cluster Forum.
Russia Halal Expo 2022 will last 3 days. Its total area will double compared to 2021 and will amount to 10,000 sq.m. In 2021, 113 exhibitors were presented at the exhibition, including the stands of Indonesia, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and others. This year, the zone of the Republic of Tatarstan will be located on the first line of the exhibition this year, where the investment, tourism and industrial potential of the republic, the zones of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria, Kazan – the Youth Capital of the OIC – 2022 and Tatarstan – the republic of sports will be presented. A distinctive feature of this year’s exhibition is free access to the program of business sessions of the Summit dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ecology, global trends in the Halal industry, the future of “decent fashion”, tourism and medicine, the basics of partnership finance, as well as the Engineering Cluster Forum.

Kazan has won the right to host World Halal Day, one of the events of the World Halal Summit Council, which has been held annually since 2014 in different parts of the world. WHD is the largest forum in the field of Islamic business and an international exhibition that brings together many companies that supply goods and services in the Halal standard. It will be held in the capital of Tatarstan as part of the Russia Halal Expo exhibition for the first time.

Kazan has received the status of “OIC Youth Capital – 2022”, Tatarstan has been hosting major international youth events on its territory for many years. “This event is especially symbolic on the eve of the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria,” – said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. In this status, a number of international events are planned to be held in Kazan in 2022.
The program also included a significant investment block with 50 innovative start-ups from Russian regions and OIC countries. Experts, investors, representatives of business and government agencies will discuss on one platform which investment projects are necessary and beneficial for implementation in the current conditions, which correspond to the international agenda and trends in economic flows around the world.
Islamic financial services are presented annually at the International Economic Summit “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit”. Some of them are presented in a purely digital format, which indicates the need to stimulate the implementation of projects in the field of Islamic financial technologies in Russia. In this regard, it became necessary to hold the first All-Russian Case Championship “Islamic Fintech Solutions for Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan”.
The pearl of the cultural program will be the Modest Fashion Day festival of decent fashion, the event will be held on May 19th. Modest Fashion Day will begin with two thematic sessions, where well-known Russian and foreign experts will discuss the prospects for decent fashion and measures to support talented designers. In the evening of the same day, summit participants and residents of the city will be able to attend a decent fashion show.
