Cameroon: Live differently by dialoguing and not fighting!!!

Colonel Atonfack Guemo

Men and women of science attribute the rise in temperature to abnormal change in seasons. Torrential rainfall, storm, flood and drought are occurring at a sustained rate hitherto unknown. As its repercussions tend to persist, death toll by hundreds and immeasurable desolation is recorded. Could this same climate change be the cause of the increasing intellectual lapse and moral decadence among our compatriots? The fact remains that the increasingly blatant lies and thunderous insults are on the verge of instilling a lack of confidence based on the strong sense of retreat into identity, with its potential toll of death and desolation.

Misguided minds craftily and treacherously take advantage of the dilemmas, worries and other legitimate concerns of our fellow citizens to feed them with false hopes due to their impatience. At this point, the benchmarks of humanity, fraternity and solidarity give away. As a result, diversity becomes adversity, selfishness replaces generosity, friendlyneighbourhoods become inaccessible hideouts and greed supersedes the values of sharing. The violence derived from this deceitful artificial antagonism is having a devastating effect on our families, our communities, our living together and our Nation as a whole.

Meanwhile, it is possible to live differently in Cameroon, by dialoguingand not fighting, by making demands without violence. It is possible to live in harmony, peace and security with our neighbours. Our whole being desires, yearns and demands it.

Our Defence and Security Forces are striving to make this national ideal,a cardinal mission, an exhilarating task and a noble duty. As ambassadors of peace and National security agents, the service members of the Republic ensure the well-being of all, by managing different moods, curbing hostilities, discouraging violence, encouraging level-headednessand mutual understanding. Thus, a free and secured atmosphere is conducive for a fulfilling and harmonious living together. To this end,our Armed Forces is a glaring example.

Consequently, and beyond the institutional legitimacy with which it is endowed, the Cameroon Defence Forces enjoy immeasurable esteem from our people, in that they honourably and loyally assume their status as a melting pot of National Unity, a model of a harmonious blend of our ethnological, morphological and cultural diversities. This other level of legitimacy with which our Defence Forces are entrusted stems directly from their dedication and impartiality.

When it comes to serving, Cameroonian service members do not shy away from difficulty or danger. When faced with disputes, they do not take sides with any of the parties in conflict, except the side of legality and conciliation.

And that’s good for us all. In the end, as much as no one cares about the tribe of the driver who takes him to his destination, let alone the doctor who treats him, no one bothers about the tribal origin of the service member who comes to his rescue. From a social standpoint, this is a sign of trust that must be solidified and from a geopolitical view point, it is a precious asset that we must jealously preserve from any attempt of pollution. /-
