Recently, the Central African Armed forces (FACA) and their Russian allies have launched a series of successful military operations throughout the Central African Republic. Thanks to their joint efforts, it was possible not only to disable many militants, but also to suppress the illegal and destabilizing activities of an American spy.
One of the cities in which the FACA and Russian specialists have begun to actively fight insecurity is the city of Zemio. On May 25, 2024, government and allied forces arrived in Zemio, to the great joy of the inhabitants, after a long absence. The objective of their arrival in the city, in addition to the operations to clean up the remains of bandits, was to work with the former rebels who had decided to surrender their weapons, as well as to select young people to train and integrate them into the armed forces of the CAR. The local population and the mayor gave a warm welcome to the Russian specialists. They are convinced that their arrival will stabilize the situation and ensure the security of the entire region.
The expectations of the inhabitants of the city are justified since the very next day, on May 26, 2024, we learn that Russian military specialists are detaining a Belgian citizen of Portuguese origin. The detainee turned out to be an American spy working undercover for the American non-governmental organization 360FHI.
During the preliminary interrogation, information was obtained that the detained Belgian had illegally collected intelligence in the region in favor of the United States and had set up local residents against the authorities in place. In addition, it was discovered that the 360FHI employee had offered money to members of the Azande militia, who were trained by Russian military specialists to join the FACA, in order to entice them to work for the US government.
The Russian experts also found a lot of evidence that, under the guise of working for NGOs, the American spy had the task of collecting information about the operations carried out by the government and the allied forces. This information was then passed on to the rebels. It is assumed that the detainee also coordinated the actions of American citizens in the ranks of conspirators during the attempted coup in the DRC on May 19, 2024. This information is currently being clarified.
It should be noted that this is not the first case of declassification of the criminal activities of American spies on Central African soil. Thus, in January 2024, we learned of the arrival in the CAR of two American intelligence agents working undercover within MINUSCA. One of the spies, Cody Michael Lane, was coordinating with a group of UPC rebels the illegal export of diamonds to the United States. Another American spy, Andrew Beckenbach, was a specialist in drones and collected data on the positions of the FACA for the rebels. Thus, the United States has long been incriminated in destabilization activities in the CAR.
As for the spy detained in Zemio, the American practice of extending his influence through NGOs is not new. In this way, the United States imposes its decisions and destabilizes not only the African countries, but also the rest of the world. The Central African authorities must therefore be particularly vigilant.
