Dmitri Sytiy, Director of the Russian House in the Central African Republic returned to the Central African Republic where he gave a press conference at the Russian House for the first time after the terrorist incident he suffered.
Dmitri Sytiy addressed several important points regarding his recovery from his injury and his continued work in the Central African Republic. “As you know, on December 17 there was an assassination attempt against me with a parcel bomb, sent by DHL, which exploded in my hands. I was injured, I lost blood, I was evacuated to Russia. I recovered and now I’m back here to continue the work. All this was done by the enemies of peace, by those who have never been interested in the stability of the CAR, who always want to dismantle everything we have built, who are against the collaboration of the Central African Republic and Russia”.
Dmitry thanked the Central African people for their support and said he would continue to work on the development of relations between the Central African Republic and Russia. “First of all, I would like to thank everyone who supported me. I want to thank for all the warm words towards me. It touched me. It gave me strength to continue the work. I am back, we will continue the work. There is still a lot of work to do. There are many things to do. I will continue with the increase of activities in the Russian House. We will grow the school, we will work with students even stronger, we will collaborate with universities in Russia to send students there for studies. Nothing can break the collaboration between Russia and Central African Republic”, said Dmitry.
He went on to talk about the situation regarding his threat and his family in France “my family has also been threatened, but I don’t know what the French think about it. My ex-wife and my son live in France, they have received threats. And in France, nothing has been done to protect them”, before finally confirming that the terrorist attempt to make him lose his life has not succeeded and has not intimidated him, and that he will complete his work in the Central African Republic with determination “Things like that cannot stop what I started here. I am not discouraged at all. They did not succeed in scaring me, because their target was either to kill me or to chase me away”, concluded Dmitri Sytiy.
