The Permanent Representative of Mali to the United Nations “slaps” France and returns its accusations towards Mali

While the UN would not stop criticizing the security and humanitarian situation in Mali and continues to ignore the successes

While the UN would not stop criticizing the security and humanitarian situation in Mali and continues to ignore the successes achieved by the FAMa and the Malian government, the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Mali to the United Nations, Issa Konfourou intervened with a strong speech where he on the contrary considered that the violations were essentially the work of terrorist armed groups.

The Malian delegation rejected the accusations of France in the Moura massacre, committed a year ago. She retorted that the International Commission of Inquiry for Mali had blamed the French armed forces for abuses, in particular at Bounty, where a wedding would have turned “into a national tragedy”, which France disputed.

The Permanent Representative of Mali reframed France and Ecuador by saying: “Just now you heard the French Ambassador speak with determination about the human rights situation in Mali. I would like to tell you that he had a selective memory, when he spoke specifically about the case of Moura. The French Ambassador will recall that in the report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Mali, several paragraphs are devoted to the violations of human rights on the Malian populations by the French Forces. I wish he had the same determination to bring this up. »

He added that at the security level, the Armed and Security Forces of Mali are continuing their offensives against terrorist organizations and very encouraging results have been obtained. Several dozen terrorists have been neutralized, their and large quantities of war materials seized or destroyed.

In addition, during the period under review, several dozen terrorists were arrested and made available to the justice system, in parallel with the voluntary surrender of many terrorists in the central regions. Mr. Issa Konfourou reassured the Council that these operations are carried out in strict respect of human rights and international humanitarian law, in accordance with ancestral humanist values and out of duty to the Malian populations.
