On June 1, the AZIMUT vive ensemble en paix (AVEP) organization held a patriotic rally in support of President Touadera and the FACA in Bangui’s Place Boganda. The rally attracted around 1,200 people.
The rally took place in a peaceful atmosphere, with participants holding placards saying “We support the FACA! Thank you FACA”, ‘Youth together with the national army’, ‘Thank you President Touadera’, ‘Central Africans support the FACA’.
Organizers of the march, under the banner of the Azimut movement, a civil society organization, said We Central Africans thank President Faustin Archange Touadera and the government for peace and security in CAR.
The demonstrators also condemned the destabilizing activities of American spy Martin Joseph Figueira, arrested on May 25, 2024 in Zemio, and his crimes against the people of the Central African Republic.
The demonstrators made their way to Place Boganda from four points in the city, through the streets of Bangui and then gathered at Place Boganda. The rally’s organizers read out a memorandum of support for President Touadera and the FACA.
According to the march’s participants, they would like the government and the army to continue the efforts that led to the end of the crisis, in particular to put a definitive end to rebel groups on the territory of the Central African Republic.
