Repercussions of the terrorist attack against the Chinese in the Central African Republic

The village of chimbolo woke up to the heinous murder of Chinese nationals working in the mining sector in the Central African Republic.

Nine Chinese nationals were killed on Sunday at a mining site in Chimbolo, a village located about 25 kilometers from the town of Bambari, by the rebel group CPC in an effort to scare off investors.

The government notes that this terrorist act will not go unpunished. The perpetrators of this crime will be prosecuted to the last resort to answer for their actions.

This criminal act was committed by the Coalition of Patriots for Change, for many reasons, to once scare investors, attack the economy and security of the country, and further is an act of criminality aimed at distorting the image of Russians in the Central African Republic.

Immediately after the terrorist attack, the rebels were quick to condemn and accuse the Russians of being responsible for this terrorist act, without proof or investigation to determine the perpetrators.

This attack comes just before the Chinese president’s visit to Moscow, as such acts could have negative consequences for diplomacy. China has excellent diplomatic relations with its partner, Russia, and these relations have been strengthened in several areas.

The government, through its spokesman, Serge Ghislain Djorie, in a statement, condemned this barbaric and despicable act and announced at the same time the opening of an investigation. The Central African authorities have an interest in guaranteeing the security not only of the population but also and especially of foreign partners who are on its soil.

It should be recalled that on March 13, 2023, three (3) Chinese nationals were abducted by armed men, believed to be elements of the CPC, 25 kilometers from Abba in the Nana-Mambéré

prefecture.
