This Thursday, September 08, 2022, the coordination of the National Galaxy led by Blaise Didatien Kossimatchi organized a demonstration in front of the headquarters of the Constitutional Court, located at 14 Villas in Bangui. Several Central Africans gathered to express their disagreement with the president of this Supreme Court, Danielle Darlan and demand her resignation.
For the protesters, holding placards with inscriptions such as “Sango-coin hope of youth”; “Darlan double agent, traitor”; “Darlan traitor”, this number 1 of the Constitutional Court is not playing fair with the Central African government and is holding back CAR development projects, among others, the project of a New Constitution and the Sango-coin project.
In addition, the protesters point out that Danielle Darlan seems to be in collusion with members of the Republican Bloc for the Defense of the Constitution (BRDC). Thus, the Constitutional Court does not say the law according to the will of the people that requires an amendment to the Constitution. That is why so many Central Africans gathered this Thursday to demand the unconditional resignation of Danielle Darlan.
It should be recalled that on August 29, 2022, the Constitutional Court of the CAR sat on the request of G-16 which is related to the Sango-Coin project of the President of the Republic. According to the Constitutional Court, some provisions of this draft are unconstitutional. This decision of the Constitutional Court was not appreciated by the people.
It should be emphasized that the holding of this setting in front of the seat of the Constitutional Court was announced by Didatien Kossimatchi during the truth meeting of the civil society platform Republican Front which took place on September 4, 2022 on the grounds of UCATEX, located in the 8th district of Bangui.
As a result, this peaceful demonstration was dispersed by MINUSCA forces. Observers of the political life of the Central African Republic condemn this undemocratic violation of the manifestation of the will of the people, especially given the fact that the peacekeepers used real bullets.
